City Council News
At the City Council meeting on June 12th, a significant milestone was achieved as the Juneteenth Resolution was passed, establishing Juneteenth as an official city-wide holiday in St. Paul. The community gathered in support, sharing their excitement and heartfelt sentiments about this historic moment.
City Councilwoman Bowie (Ward 1) and City Councilwoman Johnson (Ward 7) presented the resolution, leading to a unanimous 4-0 vote in favor of its adoption. This new holiday not only commemorates the end of slavery in the United States but also reflects St. Paul's commitment to honoring its diverse history and community.
We look forward to celebrating Juneteenth with all our residents in the years to come!
